As the school year approaches I 'd like to take this opportunity to thank you to all of you who were able to give their time to enthuse and engage pupils across Wales. The benefit of the knowledge, skills and your experience that you are able to share with pupils and young people is hugely positive, plus the support that is offered to teachers when you visit schools to carry out the many activities.
May I politely remind STEM Ambassadors to log hours that still aren't recorded, whether that's working with Careers Wales, EESW, Cardiff Commitment or your own company, all the STEM volunteering you carry out can be logged on your STEM Ambassador account especially if you braved the heatwave and was at the
Urdd Eisteddfod
.
If you are unsure about where or how to start as a STEM Ambassador then we are hosting some online sessions to help you on your way. Even those seasoned STEM Ambassadors are more than welcome to join in as your support and guidance will be extremely valuable.

Saturday 30th May saw the Welsh regional finals of the Greenpower Goblins event at Renishaw , Miskin. Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.They supply age appropriate Kit Cars, which can be built in school, college or elsewhere and raced at motorsport venues at Greenpower organised events. The Greenpower challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

Go Construct has launched a brand-new online ordering portal - the Go Construct Shop - giving registered Go Construct STEM Ambassadors free access to everything they need to inspire young people into construction careers.
The Shop brings together resources, training and rewards in one place, including welcome packs, CPD modules, digital video and logo assets, and printed materials like roller banners and school postcards to support careers events and outreach. If you are delivering a session as part of an awareness campaign then don't forget to log it on your STEM Ambassador account. Alternatively if you're new to the STEM Ambassador programme and aren't sure where to start, using an awareness campaign to engage with schools is a simple and great way to start as there are often many resources you can access to help support the delivery of an activity.

Biomedical Science Day aims to raise public and professional awareness about the critical contributions of biomedical science in diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases through laboratory testing and research.
Since it began in 2017, Biomedical Science Day has grown into the largest awareness campaign for our profession, with hundreds of events taking place across the UK and millions of people reached online.

This collection includes some activities for primary and secondary aged pupils which can be used to support Insect Week organised by the Royal Entomological Society as an annual celebration of the ‘little things that run the world’ encouraging people of all ages to learn more about insects.
Included are materials to support with surveying and tracking the insects in your area, as well as resources to promote discussion around the topic of 'Would you eat insects?'.

30th June
On 30th June in 1908 the largest asteroid in recorded history smashed into Earth in Siberia. This date is now used as an opportunity to highlight the risks of asteroids to equipment in space and the Earth; and their positive effects such as their role in the formation of the solar system and asteroid impact sites providing precious metals.
This selection of activities cover all ages and look at how to survive on Earth after an asteroid impact as well as investigations into how speed affects crater size.
